Update 3-Jan-2013
The new Panasonic WV-ST162 webcams mentioned last Summer are now shipping. Please review the attached Field Instructions for installing the new webcams.
Notes:
- Webcams have been standard for all SL8500s for a some time.
- If you installed an SL8500 in the past year without webcams, the customer is going to receive a shipment of 2 webcams. They may notify you for installation if they want them.
- If you need to replace an old style webcam, you need to replace them both with the new style.
- The new FRU is CAMERAS, REMOTE, SL8500 P/N 7051122 and replaces both left and right cameras so that old cameras are entirely removed from the LSM.
- The existing D-Link camera power cable connector is not compatible with the new camera, so an adapter cable has been added to the FRU.
- The SNBI for the first SL8500 to be shipped with the new WebCam is as follows:
- SN: 516000201299
- Ship date 12/18/12
- CB# 7050825, CI# 7050828
Reference the attached C/B installation document, "Camera New Instructions CI7050828.pdf", for additional information.
Update 30-July-2014
SL8500 Web Camera Ordering Clarification - When ordering a camera there are several part numbers listed on the System Handbook. As a result it is unclear what to order.
To clarify this situation:
a). The old style D-Link cameras are no longer available.
b). The new Panasonic cameras are not compatible with the old D-Link cameras due to different power cable and mounting requirements.
c). When replacing a camera, regardless of the model, you order the same part.
d). The part number to order is 7050753. This is the FRU that is in the logistics system to order.
e). This part number is fulfilled with part number 7051122 that contains 2 cameras, 2 mounts and 2 cable adapters.
f). In most case there will be extra parts but this is expected. In order to cover any replacement requirement, all 6 items are sent to satisfy every FRU request.
