Goal

What driver does SGI supply for attaching the T10000?

Solution

Driver is provided by SGI directly:

Driver part number is SR4-10K20100 and the list price is zero if purchased with SGI T10000 drives via SGI Corporation.(drive bought through SGI Corp).

Otherwise customer needs to order SR4-10K20100A from SGI and the price is $5000, not included services (current cost as of 8/2006). (Drives bought from anyone else than SGI Corp.)

SGI does have a driver for the T10K. Previously, SGI included drivers in their OS but for the last 5-6 years, they have sold them separately to recover some of the engineering and support costs.

If a customer purchases T10K drives from SGI, the driver will be provided for free. If the driver is purchased from another source, the driver is bought from SGI at the current cost by SGI.
