Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1015393.1 : L700/180 - How TSM Works With Fast Load Enabled on Library
PreviouslyPublishedAs 223569 Applies to:Sun StorageTek L700 Tape Library - Version Not Applicable and laterSun StorageTek L1400 Tape Library - Version Not Applicable and later Sun StorageTek L180 Tape Library - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms GoalFast load SolutionFast load means that the library will return a move medium as successful to TSM as soon as the command is received by the library. Once TSM "believes" the move is done, we will do rewinds and wait for the drive to come ready. This is how we tell the tape has "arrived" at the tape drive. On a large library where it may take some time for the tape to "arrive" at the drive, TSM will fail because the time between an "apparently" successful move medium and the tape arriving is too long. With fast load disabled, the move medium isn't reported as successful until it is "really" successful and the time for the tape drive to come ready is significantly shorter.
