SolutionTo collect dumps from a HP LTO tape drive, the recommended tool is called HP Library Tape Tools, LTT. This tool is designed to run on HPUX 11.x, OpenVMS, Mac OS X, Windows, Red Hat, Linux, SUSE, Solaris 10 and Tru64 environments. Should you need the LTT Tool, open up a Service Request and request the tool. It will be loaded to the SR by an L1 or L2 Support Representative. For Oracle personnel, refer to the following. The tool is available from the following Link: https://tapesupport.us.oracle.com/Procedures/tools_main.php#OEM%20Drives Once on the above link, scroll down to OEM Drive Tools and select "HP StorageWorks LTT 4.24, Maintenance field tool for HP LTO drives." HP Support will check the code and serial number of the drive. They will not support a 3rd party sold drive or help with it, the trace must be sent into Oracle/STK Support to be processed via the Service Request. Note: (Mar.17,2017) Once LTT has been downloaded to a PC/Server, it can be attached to a Service Request so the customer can download it to their PC/Server. ============================================== Dumps should be collected as soon as possible when investigating a problem. Dumps collect information from the drive for a certain time-frame. All dumps should be accompanied by supporting information that describes the problem that the dumps are associated with.
