Goal

Description
Procedure to order a programmed replacement RLM card for the SL500 library.

Prior to ordering a new programmed RLM card, please try this procedure as we have success in re-establishing communication with the library.

1. Power off SL500, remove RLC, power up SL500 and waited 5 minutes.

2. Power off SL500, reinsert RLC, power up SL500.

This should allow you to access the library using the Admin or Service Password.

Solution

Steps to Follow

Order the programmed RLM as noted below:

Procedure to order Programmed Replacement RLM card for SL500:
     1. If an FE suspects a failing RLM card is the cause of current symptoms they should request the SR Owner engage Tape Domain Tier 2 support for review and final approval of the RLM Card Order.
     2. Please Note: The programmed RLM card is not an off the shelf order and must be set up specific to the site serial number and CEI for the particular SL500, so those 2 items are key to the process.

NOTE: The CEI is printed on the frame near the SN.

Part number updated September 14 2015 to 7312422

2. Once Tier 2 gives approval for the programmed RLM, the Domain Engineer who owns the Parent SR needs to take the following steps
     1. Create a task for the part order and onsite work, use the Preferred Delivery option of Specific Date / Time, setting it to 7 working days from when the task is created.
     2. The task needs to contain the following text so that the part is NOT actually ordered:

"I need part number 7312422 Qty n

Please note that this card is being configured at Flextronics, specifically for this customer.

There will be no other supply in the network.

Please raise the order, which will go in to back order status.

No need for any further sourcing activity at this point."

3. Send an email to the Code A team using the appropriate email alias below depending on region:

Copy James Hidy <james.hidy@oracle.com> on all requests.
For NAMER, LAD or JAPAC Regions send email to: USRALSUNCodeAShips@flextronics.com
For the EMEA Region send email to: HUBHUCFTStorageTek@hu.flextronics.com
Note: Africa and the Middle East roll up under EMEA

Include in the email: the SL500 library serial number, the CEI number of the unit, the SR number, the task number, plus the name of the Tier 2 Backline Engineer who approved the order.
Please Note: - Failure to follow this procedure will delay the parts order until approval is verified.

4. Send an Email to Regional Backorder team (RBOT) (depending on library location)
  emea_backorders_grp <emea_backorders_grp@oracle.com>
  japac_backorders_grp <japac_backorders_grp@oracle.com>
  amer-backorder-grp_cr amer-backorder-grp_cr@oracle.com

To: Regional BOT
Subject Matter: DO NOT SOURCE RLM / PUK / HBK Cards / SR=?? / Task =??
Dear BOT,
Configured RLM / PUK / HBK Cards – do not source
Rgds
Domain

5. The local Logistics analyst/specialist or one of the Code A team members will submit the Code A form, with the SR number, the library serial number and the CEI number of the unit, plus the Tech Support Backline approval for processing via the Code A process, which expedites the programming of the RLM card.
It is expected that the end to end process, from requesting the part to delivery, will take 7 working days. However, this could be longer if the library is at a more remote location.
