Sun StorageTek VSM System - Version 4 and later
IBM z/OS on System z

Goal

What is the MIH (Missing Interrupt Handler) value for VTDs?

Solution

1. For VTDs -

The MIH value should be set for 20 minutes.

Command to display current value is:

D IOS,MIH,DEV=xxxx      where xxxx is VTD address.

Command to set the value is:

SET IOS,MIH TIME=20:00,DEV=(xxxx-xxxx)

2. For RTDs -

There is no need to set the MIH for RTDs.
If the RTDs are shared with MVS, then the MIH value for the specific drive type should be used.  For example, 9840 = 50 minutes, 9940 = 180 minutes.
