Solution

Reference the description below for general information on the PDU used in the SL8500. To determine the type of PDU installed verify with the facilities manager the power requirements at your facility and match it with the descriptions below.

Another option is to obtain the part number from the back of the PDU which is located behind the rear library doors on the bottom right hand side. The part number tag is on the back of the PDU. Add the PDU part number and/or description to the service ticket.

Description:

Power for the SL8500 library must be supplied through directly wiring the Power Distribution Unit (PDU) connectors to the customer-supplied circuit breaker. AC power for the library is routed through power distribution units (PDUs) to +48 VDC power supplies.

NOTE: Power cabling must be done by a licensed electrician. Torque specifications and use of conduit are required. Refer to the System Assurance Guide, PN MT9229, or Installation Manual, PN 96138, for details.

The four power options for SL8500 libraries are:

1. 200 - 240 VAC, single phase, 24A, 50 - 60 HZ (up to three per PDU)

2. 200 - 240 VAC, line-to-line, three phase, 40A, 50 - 60 HZ, Delta (generally used in the U.S.)

3. 200 - 240 VAC, line-to-neutral, three phase, 24A, 50 - 60 HZ, WYE (generally used in Europe)
