Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1012343.1 : Sun Storage 3000 Arrays: How to Collect Support Information
PreviouslyPublishedAs 217029 Applies to:Sun Storage 3320 SCSI Array - Version Not Applicable and laterSun Storage 3310 Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 3510 FC Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 3511 SATA Array - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms GoalThe se3kxtr utility collects support information from Sun Storage 3000 Arrays. This utility is a script comprised of a series of sccli commands. It requires the installation of the Sun StorEdge 3000 Family CLI (sccli) software. You can download and install this software by following <Document 1004352.1> How to Download and Install Sun Storage Configuration Service Software (SUNWsscs). Once the software is installed, the data may be collected by one of two methods.
Data can be collected in-band using the data path, or out-of-band using a network connection. The se3kxtr utility is available for download by clicking on it in the Attachments section at the end of this article.
SolutionCollecting The Data With se3kxtrThe README in the se3kxtr bundle shows many of the options you can use to collect the data. The following example shows collection in-band. # ./se3kxtr -d /dev/rdsk/c1t41d0s2 -v Creating output file... This example shows data collection out-of-band. # ./se3kxtr -d 10.0.1.1 -o
>>> Sun StorEdge 3000 Series Array Extractor - version 0.3.6 <<< Running on the following StorEdge 3000 device(s): se3000://10.0.1.1:58632 [SUN StorEdge 3510 SN#00XXXX] Getting sccli output (this may take a while)... Creating output file... Output file: se3kxtr.8303d8b4.3510array-2013.03.18.12.25.tar.gz Done!
Collecting The Data With Oracle ExplorerOracle Explorer can collect se3kxtr data. The earlier versions were limited to in-band collection only. With the release of Explorer 5.3, data may be collected in-band or out-of-band. The out-of-band technique allows for multiple arrays and does not bog down any production (in-band) I/O. To configure this, perform the following steps. Add the arrays in the file /etc/opt/SUNWexplo/se3kinput.txt. In this example, the 3310 is named 3310-prod and the password to reach the array is CanGet1n. # Input file for extended data collection
# Format is HOST PASSWORD # Explorer requires that the mode of se3kinput.txt is 0400 or 0600 3310-prod CanGet1n Do the following checks:
You are now ready to collect the data in-band or out of band. Without any option, Oracle Explorer Data Collector collects all the se3kxtr information for any in-band array. # /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer
With the -w se3kextended option, Oracle explorer will collect se3kxtr information for every array registered in /etc/opt/SUNWexplo/se3kinput.txt. If this file is empty, Oracle Explorer will ask for the array name and its password. If the data collection scripts appear to be hanging or aborting during authentication, it may be a good idea to temporarily remove the password from the array and rerun the command. # /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer -w se3kextended
This interactive module allows you to obtain data for SE3xxx arrays which are network accessible from this host. You will be prompted for an array name and password. If arrayname cannot be resolved, please use the IP address. If the array has no password, press return when prompted for one. To end the prompting, type return, at which point, data collection will begin. Please enter the name of the SE3xxx array: xxxx Feb 22 17:00:10 s4u-280ra-epar02[3625] se3kextended: Verifying connection to xxxx using sccli. Please enter the password for xxxx, if any: Feb 22 17:00:17 s4u-280ra-epar02[3625] se3kextended: Please enter the next SE3xxx array name or press return to continue. Please enter the name of the SE3xxx array: yyyy Feb 22 17:00:25 s4u-280ra-epar02[3625] se3kextended: Gathering data for xxxx. Gathering data for yyyy.
