Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1012024.1 : Sun Storage 3510 and 3511 Arrays: How to Resolve SES and PLD Firmware Mismatches
PreviouslyPublishedAs 216477 Applies to:Sun Storage 3511 SATA Array - Version Not Applicable and laterSun Storage 3510 FC Array - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms GoalThis document describes how to resolve a SES or PLD firmware mismatch for a Sun Storage 3510 or 3511 Array. sccli> show ses
Ch Id Chassis Vendor Product ID Rev PLD WWPN ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 124 SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1040 A000 204000C0FF000008 3 124 SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1040 8B00* 204000C0FF000008 * Indicates SES or PLD firmware mismatch.
SolutionSES and PLD firmware must match on controllers, but every controller firmware version also expects specific corresponding firmware versions for each type of firmware. To resolve an SES or PLD firmware mismatch, Oracle recommends upgrading to the latest version of all firmware components like Controller, SES, PLD and also Disk. The example below shows the output of sccli>show ses command after the upgrading SES and PLD firmware revision to latest: sccli> show ses
Ch Id Chassis Vendor/Product ID Rev PLD WWNN WWPN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2 124 001XXX SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1106 1000 204000C0FF000008 214000C0FF000008 Topology: loop(a) 3 124 001XXX SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1106 1000 204000C0FF000008 224000C0FF000008 Topology: loop(b)
In patches 113723-21 and 113724-12, the SES and PLD firmware upgrade requires upgrading controller firmware to version 4.23A.
To upgrade controller firmware from 3.2xx to 4.15x or later, special instructions must be followed which are given in Sun StorEdge 3000 Family RAID Controller Firmware Migration Guide.
