Goal

The Sun Ultra[TM] 45, Sun Fire V215/V245 and Sun Fire V445 may experience massive io.fabric errors

Solution

Steps to Follow

The Sun Ultra 45, Sun Fire V215/V245 and Sun Fire V445 may experience massive io.fabric errors due to correctable errors being generated from the graphics card XVR-300 or XVR-2500, installed in PCIE slot. These messages do not indicate a need to replace the system board.

Example:

fmdump-e.out

To correct this issue append the following lines to the /etc/system file

set pcie:pcie_aer_ce_mask=0x11C1
set pcie_expected_ce_mask=0x11C1

Reboot the system to implement these changes.

After adding these lines to the /etc/system file you may see the following message appear during Solaris boot:

Sorry, variable pcie_expected_ce_mask is not defined in the kernel.

If this message is seen, delete the line "set pcie_expected_ce_mask=0x11C1".
Then reboot the system.
