Goal

This document shows the procedure to determine the version of Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) installed on the management host.

Solution

Method using the Command Line (CLI)

The sscs binary located at:

Solaris: /opt/SUNWstkcam/bin/
Linux: /opt/sun/cam/bin/
Windows: C:\Program Files\Sun\Common Array Manager\bin

  1. Execute sscs list mgmt-sw.

    Example:

    bash-3.00# sscs list mgmt-sw
Application Name:   "Sun Storage Common Array Manager"
    User:               local
    Current Logins:     1
    Sessions:           none
    Server:             localhost
    Server OS:          SunOS
    Server OS Version:  5.10
    Product Version:    6.8.0.20
    Build Date:         June 4, 2011
    Install Info:       6.8.0.20
    Critical Alarms:    0
    Down Alarms:        0
    Major Alarms:       0
    Minor Alarms:       0
    bash-3.00#

Method using the Graphical User Interface (GUI)

  1. Log into CAM (https://<CAM server IP>:6789).
  2. Click on "Sun Storage Common Array Manager".
  3. Click on "VERSION" on the top left in CAM.

A third method to check version involves the use of the iam command, which by design reports the base CAM install version. If the base version is updated by CAM patches, iam still reports the base version. Therefore, iam is not recommended for checking current CAM version. Refer to <Document 1901948.1> Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM): Checking Version Using iam Command May Report Misleading Information.
