Goal

Description
This document describes how to update the Flash Proms on a Sun Fire[TM] 12K/Sun Fire[TM] 15K/Sun Fire[TM] E20K/Sun Fire[TM] E25K System Board.

Solution

Steps to Follow
All FPROMs on all system boards must be updated with the sgcpu.flash image using the flashupdate utility.

Updating the FPROMs on all the system boards in a domain (example below uses domain 'a')

On the MAIN sc (as sms-svc) run:

mc15k-sc1:sms-svc:4> flashupdate -d a -f  /opt/SUNWSMS/SMS1.4.1/hostobjs/sgcpu.flash

NOTE: You can update the flash PROMs on the system boards while the Solaris[TM] Operating Environment is active in the domains. The flash PROM revision will not be in effect until the system boards are powered off/on using setkeyswitch or DR operations.

If you would like to update only ONE system board on the platform, then you specify the board location as follows:

mc15k-sc1:sms-svc:6> flashupdate -f /opt/SUNWSMS/SMS1.4.1/hostobjs/sgcpu.flash sb0

NOTE: Answering no to either question above will not flash the firmware on the System Board(s). It is the method you use to simply view the firmware revision of the System Board.
