Goal

The pre-Installed EEPROM settings on the SC's are as follows:

setenv auto-boot          false
setenv diag-level         pmax-epvmax
setenv input-device       ttya
setenv output-device      ttya
setenv local-mac-address  true
setenv diag-switch        true
setenv post-on-sir        true
setenv diag-device

Some of these settings are changed during a normal Enterprise Installation Standards(EIS) installation. By following the EIS standards, the result is a consistent, high quality, and cost-effective installation that speeds up the time to deployment, and provides the foundation for enhanced stability and performance. This document is intended to provide the EIS standard EEPROM settings for those who do not have access to the EIS CD.

Solution

These setting are critical to the System Controller (SC) operation. The settings on SC0 and SC1 should be as follows:

Post-Installation EIS applied EEPROM changes:
On both SC's:

auto-boot     true
diag-switch   true
diag-device   < same as boot-device >

On SC0:

diag-level pmax-epmax

On SC1:

diag-level pmax-epvmax

The value for  auto-boot will insure that the SC will reboot if it should crash, and diag-switch is set to true, so that the SC will run in diagnostic mode.
The more verbose diag-level on SC1 will delay the POST completion and thus will ensure that there is no race condition for the MAIN role if both SCs are started at the same time, and that SC0 will come up as MAIN.

If  SC0 is not the MAIN, or if an SC failover occurs, the values for diag-level do not need to be changed.
