SolutionHow do I partition a logical drive on a Sun StorageTek[TM] 3310, 3320, 3510 or 3511 array? Partition a logical drive with sccli: # sccli configure partition[| delete] partition ID - Specifies a combination of LD-ID/LV-ID and partition-number in XXXXXXXX-PP format where XXXXXXXX represents the Logical Drive/Volume ID, or a combination of LD/LV Index and partition number in ld{X}/lv{X}-PP format where LD/LV Index is the Logical Drive/Volume Index number. PP is a two-digital hexidecimal number that represents the partition number. size - Specifies the partition size in MB, such as 4000MB. To delete a partition, specify a size of 0. Or, use the delete keyword. delete To delete a partition, specify the delete keyword. All partitions in the logical drive or logical volume must be unmapped for this argument to take effect. Note - Changes to a partition cause the next-higher-numbered partition to shrink or grow. Any change in the size of one partition causes the dimensions of the partition next to it to change as well, invalidating whatever data might be stored on both partitions. Before implementing a new partition layout, the layout is displayed and the user is warned that data in the old partitions will be lost. The user is prompted to continue. Example: Partition a logical drive with telnet or serial port connection: 1. Telnet or tip to the array. For example, type: # telnet 10.1.229.120 10.1.229.120 is the address of your Sun StorEdge disk. Or # tip -38400 /dev/ttyb 2. From the main menu, select View and edit Logical drives 3. Select the logical drive you want to partition. 4. Select Partition logical drive. 5. If the logical drive has not already been partitioned, select 'yes' only if the logical drive is going to be partitioned. 6. A list of partitions on this logical drive is displayed. If the logical drive has not yet been partitioned, all the logical drive capacity is listed as partition 0 . Select a partition. A partition size is displayed. 7. Type the desired size of the selected partition. 8. Choose 'yes' to confirm. The remaining capacity of the logical drive is automatically allocated to the next partition. A maximum of 32 partitions can be created.
