Sun StorEdge T3 controller failure
NOTE: This is a sub-set of <Document: 1018272.1> "Troubleshooting Sun StorEdge[TM] T3 Hardware" This document will help with disabled controllers based on similar "fru stat" output below: storage-t3b:/:<7>fru stat
CTLR STATUS STATE ROLE PARTNER TEMP
------ ------- ---------- ---------- ------- ----
u1ctr ready enabled master - 31
u2ctr ready disabled - - 29
Troubleshooting Steps: NOTE: There are two scenarios based on which controller has failed. Choose the appropriate option based on your "fru stat".
Controller u1ctr disabled 1. Enable the controller with "enable u<encid>" command.
Example: storage-t3b:/:<3>enable u1
NOTE: Wait about 5 minute before running "fru stat" as to allow the array to boot the disabled controller.
2. If the u1 controller is still not ready enabled, then replace controller, otherwise proceed step 3.
NOTE: Do not proceed to step 3 unless U1 and U2 are enabled.
3. disable u2 <---this will allow for U1 to be the master controller (preferred config)
4. enable u2
NOTE: Wait about 5 minute before running "fru stat" as to allow the array to boot the disabled controller.
NOTE: Now "fru stat" should show the master as u1 and the alternate as u2 CTLR STATUS STATE ROLE PARTNER TEMP ------ ------- ---------- ---------- ------- ---- u1ctr ready enabled master u2ctr 31 u2ctr ready enabled alt master u1ctr 29
Controller u2ctr disabled
1. Enable the controller with "enable u<encid>" command.
Example: storage-t3b:/:<3>enable u2
2. Verify that the controller is now ready and enabled with the "fru stat" command. NOTE: Wait about 5 minute before running "fru stat" as to allow the array to boot the disabled controller.
3. If the controller is still not ready enabled, then replace controller.
