Goal

This document describes the method to display the Sun Storage 3310 Array using the Sun StorEdge Configuration Service.

After executing /opt/SUNWsscs/sscsconsole/ssconsole to display the Sun StorEdge Configuration Service Console GUI, the 3310 is
not detected.

Expanding the device tree for the host icon only shows the HBA card.

Double-clicking on the HBA icon shows only the HBA information details.

The user is unable to manage the 3310 with sscsconsole.

Solution

  1. Click under "Array Administration" in the pull-down menu.

  2. Select "Controller Assignment". Under "Controller Serial Number List", the 3310 should be highlighted in purple.

  3. For the highlighted 3310, select a server to manage it using the "Server to manage this controller" pull-down menu.

  4. Change from value of "None" to the host server that will be managing the selected 3310.

  5. Enter the ssadmin password when prompted to complete this 3310 discovery process.

A satellite dish will appear next to the host icon to indicate discovery is in progress. Once discovery is finished, the 3310 is shown under the HBA icon.
