Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1004759.1 : Sun Storage 3000 Arrays: How to Access Arrays Out-of-band
PreviouslyPublishedAs 206608 Applies to:Sun Storage 3310 Array - Version Not Applicable and laterSun Storage 3320 SCSI Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 3510 FC Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 3511 SATA Array - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms GoalThis document is relevant for the following Sun Storage arrays:
This document explains how to access the array out-of-band via network using the command line interface. The out-of-band storage management capability enables you to monitor and manage arrays over the network using TCP/IP. Unlike in-band storage management (the standard method for storage management), which requires access to the server that is physically attached to the storage, out-of-band storage management does not require access to the server that is physically attached to the storage. With out-of-band storage management, if the server that is attached to the storage is shut down, monitoring and maintenance are unaffected. SolutionTo access the Sun Storage 3320, 3310, 3510 and 3511 out-of-band from the command line, use the following: # sccli <ip-address or hostname of array>
To run the 'se3kxtr' extractor tool out-of-band, use the following: # se3kxtr -d <ip-address or name of array> -o -v
To download the sccli command line interface, refer to Document 1004352.1 How to Download and Install Sun Storage Configuration Service Software (SUNWsscs)
