Goal

 This document is intended to examine and explain all the LED's and switch setting on a Sun Storage D130 Array. It will also touch on daisy chaining and termination.

The information provided here has been extracted from Netra™ st D130 Installation and Maintenance Manual

Solution

The front panel of the D130 has 6 LED's arranged in the below configuration:

The System Power LED is lit when power is on and unlit when power is off.

The system summary fault LED is green when all is normal and amber when the entire D130 (minus the disk drives) needs to be replaced.

 

In order to explain the Disk Drive LED's the rear panel needs to be referenced:

The SCSI ID switch sets the SCSI IDs for the disk drives.

System Power and System Summary Fault LEDs
The System Power and System Summary Fault LEDs give the same diagnostic
information as the System Power and System Summary Fault LEDs at the front of
the enclosure.

Auto Termination Indication LEDs
The Auto Termination Indication LEDs indicate if the Netra st D130 storage
enclosure is part of an UltraSCSI, wide SCSI or narrow SCSI daisy-chain. It also
indicates its position in the daisy-chain.

 

HighLowMeaning
Off Off The Netra st D130 storage enclosure is the first device in the UltraSCSI
or wide SCSI daisy-chain; another device follows it.
On On The Netra st D130 storage enclosure is the last or only device in the
UltraSCSI or wide SCSI daisy-chain.
On Off A narrow SCSI device follows the Netra st D130 storage enclosure in
the daisy-chain.
Off On N/A
