This document details how to find and install the software. When you download SUNWsscs, you will download the sccli utility as part of the package. SolutionBefore installing the SUNWsscs software, be sure to read the release notes for your array. Install OS updates. To use Sun Storage Configuration Service on a Solaris host, first install the most current recommended OS patches and Java runtime environment software patches for Solaris 8, 9, and 10. For a list of recommended patches, refer to the release notes for your array on the Oracle Technology Network's Oracle Disk Storage Systems Documentation page.
The software installation package, SUNWsscs, includes the following components:
Before installing the software, be sure to read the release notes for your array. 1. If you are upgrading, be sure you uninstall earlier versions of Sun StorEdge Configuration Service, Sun StorEdge Diagnostic Reporter, and the sccli command line interface, including the agents. 2. If the Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Professional Storage Manager CD is not available, download patch 10310598. 3. Unzip the downloaded file. 4. Unzip the SSCS zip file. For example: # unzip SSCS-2.5.zip
Archive: SSCS-2.5.zip creating: SSCS/ creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/ creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/windows/ extracting: SSCS/2.5.0.9/windows/2.5_fw_windows.zip creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/linux/ extracting: SSCS/2.5.0.9/linux/2.5_fw_linux.zip creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/ creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc/ inflating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc/2.5_fw_solaris_sparc.pkg creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/i386/ inflating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/i386/2.5_fw_solaris_x86.pkg
5. cd to the SPARC or i386 software package directory. For example for sparc: # cd SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc
6. Run the pkgadd command, specifying the software package required. You must be root to run this command. For example: # pkgadd -d ./2.5_fw_solaris_sparc.pkg

This internal section preserves the original text of step 2 showing the directions on how to search explicitly in Patches&Updates. It is actually a better idea to just supply a "click here" link and not put customers through the search routine, but issues have arisen with changes to the way patches and downloads are accessed, so it may be useful to retain the original text: 2. If the Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Professional Storage Manager CD is not available, download the software using the following steps: a) Use your Oracle SSO to log in to My Oracle Support at: https://support.oracle.com/ Step f) will pull up screens similar to those captured below -- you will
