Goal
Provide a Quick Cross Reference for RSC (Remote System Control) Patch/firmware
Solution
Description
Using the checksum value of the RSC firmware(/usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/images/rscfw),
you can quickly determine the patch level for the Remote System Control software
on the system.
Steps to Follow
There are two methods to determine the RSC firmware checksum value on the system. After the checksum value is obtained, cross reference with the table below, for RSC patch level installed on the system.
Method 1) "version -v" output from rsc>. Look for RSC firmware checksum: output.
example (checksum 7DFCFF5B):
rsc> version -v
RSC Version: 2.2.1
RSC Bootmon version: 2.0.0
RSC bootmon checksum: D3865290
RSC Firmware version: 2.2.1
RSC Build Release: 54
RSC firmware checksum: 7DFCFF5B
RSC firmware built Oct 23 2002, 15:01:54
RSC System Memory Size: 8 MB
RSC NVRAM Version = 4
RSC hardware type: 3
Method 2) From the Solaris operating system, login as root and execute the following:
root@280r-blv04 # cd /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/images
root@280r-blv04 # tail -2 rscfw | head -1 | cut -c 69-76
50B66BA2
root@280r-blv04 #

RSC is supported on Sun Enterprise[TM] 250 (E250), Sun Fire[TM] 280R, V480, V490, V880 and V890 servers.
RSC is NOT supported on Sun Fire[TM] V250 servers; this instead uses ALOM for remote system management.
