Solution
Description
There are several types of firmware used on various components and flash PROMs in Sun Fire [TM] 12K/15K/E20K/E25K systems.
NOTE: Only the firmware levels listed here, are supported. It is not supported to use any level of firmware other than that listed below, for each version of System Management Services(SMS) software.
The table below details the various firmware and revisions.

Note:
* To use lpost 5.18.1, hpost patch 117371-06 or higher, must be installed on the System Controller(SC).
**This lpost patch requires SMS 1.4.1 hpost patch 117371-08 or later.
The supported SP OBP are:
- Nordica (CP1500) : 3.14.6
- Othello+ (CP2140): 1.1.19
Sustaining support for SMS Releases :
SMS 1.1. 1.2, 1.4 : Discontinued effective June 9,2004.
SMS 1.3 : Discontinued effective October 5,2005.
SMS 1.4.1 : Discontinued effective July 15,2006.
SMS 1.5 : Discontinued effective July 30, 2008.
SMS 1.6 is the only supported releases for the Sun Fire 12K/15K/E20K/E25K platform family.
- SMS 1.4.1(or greater) required for using UltraSPARCIV (USIV Jaguar) boards in the Sun Fire 12K/15K/E20K/E25K server
- SMS 1.6 required for using USIV+(Panther) boards, in the Sun Fire 12K/15K/E20K/E25K server
Only the following OBP versions are supported on the respective SC type
Note:There is no support for lpost version 5.18.0 on the Starcat platform.
Note: 5.18.1 is the minimum firmware required for 1.35 MHz USIV procs.
Note: 5.19.0 is the minimum firmware required for 1.5 MHz USIV+ procs.
For systems running SMS 1.3: Due to Bug 6336735, flashupdate will fail when trying to re-flash boards that already contain FW version 5.19 or higher. See the bug for more information.
