Enable the use of SSH to comunicate with Service Controller ( aka ALOM )
Solution
Description
This document describes how to enable the Secure Shell (SSH) on Sun Fire[TM] T1000 and Sun Fire[TM] T2000 server platforms
Steps to Follow
The SC (aka ALOM) on Sun Fire T1000/T2000 provides limited Secure Shell (SSH) functionality, supporting only SSH version 2 (SSHv2) client requests. SSH on ALOM is available with system firmware 6.2.x or later. Earlier system firmware releases (6.1.x or below) does not support SSH on ALOM.
To enable the SSH functionality, first the firmware should be upgraded to 6.2.x or later.
To enable SSH on ALOM, the ALOM variable "if_connection" has to be set to ssh, followed by ALOM reset:
sc> setsc if_connection ssh
sc> resetsc -y
After applying the above setting, ALOM will no longer be accessible via telnet session. The user can login to ALOM via SSH.
