Goal

Serial cable pin-outs needed while utilizing an Annex[TM] Terminal Server to capture console output from T300, T3+, ALOM (eg. Netra[TM] 240), RJ45 serial port (eg. V1280) or RSC (Remote System Controle) (eg. Sun Enterprise[TM] 220R).

Solution

Pin-outs between an Annex and a T300:

Annex RJ45 T300 RJ11
TXD 3 ----------------- 5 RXD
RXD 5 ----------------- 6 TXD
GND 6 ----------------- 4 GND
NB: set the port on the Annex to SOFTWARE HANDSHAKE instead of hardware handshake. Otherwise you will not get a connection.

Pin-outs between an Annex and a T3+, ALOM or RJ45 serial port:
Annex RJ45 T3+ RJ45
RTS 1 ----------------- 8 CTS
DTR 2 ----------------- 7 DSR
TXD 3 ----------------- 6 RXD
DCD 4 ----|
RXD 5 ----------------- 3 TXD
GND 6 ----------------- 5 GND
DSR 7 ----------------- 2 DTR
CTS 8 ----------------- 1 RTS
NB: the cable is not symmetrical. One end is dedicated for the T3+ while the other can only be connected to the Annex.

Pin-outs between an Annex and an RSC board:
Annex RJ45 RSC RJ45
RTS 1 ----------------- 8 CTS
DTR 2 ----------------- 7 DSR
TXD 3 ----------------- 6 RXD
DCD 4 ----|
RXD 5 ----------------- 3 TXD
GND 6 ----------------- 4 GND
DSR 7 ----------------- 2 DTR
CTS 8 ----------------- 1 RTS
NB: the cable is not symmetrical. One end is dedicated for the RSC while the other can only be connected to the Annex.
