PurposeDue to product policy changes, Oracle is shipping new types of hard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD) and embedded solid-state drives (m-SSD) to EAEU countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia). To ensure compatibility with these new drives, some systems may require a firmware update. ScopeHard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD) and embedded solid-state drives (m-SSD) per the list below. In case of a hardware failure, customers should validate that they are on the latest system firmware levels to ensure usability of these new HDD/SSD equivalent drives. Details
Mixing SE and ISE drives: EAEU disk drives use Secure Erase (SE) technology to erase data from the disk before disposal, all of our other drives use Instant Secure Erase (ISE) technology which is much faster and used by many of our customers. Installing EAEU Secure Erase drives into any product outside of EAEU countries is highly discouraged and require that you inform the customer of this change in erasure capability before getting their approval.
