Solution Type Predictive Self-Healing Sure Solution 2297742.1 : Mandatory NCAT/CPAS for Specific SPARC T8 Series Servers FRU's/CRU's
Oracle Confidential PARTNER - Available to partners (SUN). Reason: T8-x Mandatory CPAS Applies to:SPARC T8-1 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]SPARC T8-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] SPARC T8-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Information in this document applies to any platform. PurposeThe goal of this document is to provide details about the requirement to NCAT/CPAS components on SPARC T8 Series Server. Scope
Details
Important: In the following cases:
we still need to send a FE to perform CPAS process for below T8 Mandatory CPAS parts. The following components should be NCAT/CPAS'ed for Failure Analysis when diagnosed as faulty: (by Engineering per doc 1513046.1)
Note: Memory related P/N's (SPARC T8-1: 7345484 and SPARC T8-2: 7345330) are CRU parts but need to be dispatched with an FE on-site task and instructions to have the FE CPAS the part.
FE Actions when raising NCAT/CPAS: 1. Put "Requested by T8 Eng Team" in the comments section of the CPAS.
TSC Actions: 1. Open an on-site field task so the FE can NCAT/CPAS the failed T8 FRU, 2. Put *FS TASK OPEN FOR T8 NCAT/CPAS* in the SR's Description Field, 3. Capture the portions of POST or/and ereports relating to the failure & place into the parent SR 4. Save the snapshot to engineering server. Engineering needs to gather snapshot or explorer data, this data must be placed on server hako (using your LDAP account). Please log onto hako & upload using the scp cmd methods. The scp command will not work if executed on cores3! sr1-ubrm-17% ssh hako.us.oracle.com
Password: Last login: Fri Jan 10 16:21:10 2014 from sr1-ubrm-17.us. Oracle Corporation SunOS 5.11 11.0 November 2011 hako% cd /snaps/SPARC/T8/CPAS hako% scp amogg0018:/sr/3-11848924981/SNSH/ORACLESP-BDL09459A2_10.0.1.2_2014-01-21T09-34-27.zip . Password: ORACLESP-BDL09459A2_10.0.1.2_2014-01-21T09-34-27.zip 100% | **************************************************************************** hako% Note - If you get "permission denied" when running the above scp command you will need to login to "amogg0018" and perform "cfmagent -x SR x-xxxxxxxxxxx" (the SR of the snapshot/explorer you are bringing over) to get permissions to copy this snapshot/explorer over to hako.
5. Verify that this file has permissions set to 0x755. hako% chmod 0x755 *zip Note - Please notice that you must change the name of the Explorer or Snapshot to the SR#CPAS#. Please append "-a" to the basename of the filename if multiple files are to be uploaded.
(example) hako% mv ORACLESP-BDL09459A2_10.0.1.2_2014-01-21T09-34-27.zip SR3-8197034921CPAS4238.zip 6. Unzip snapshot/explorer in directory (/snaps/SPARC/T7/CPAS) and mv the snapshot/explorer .zip file under the main directory of the snapshot/explorer. (example) hako% unzip SR3-8197034921CPAS4238.zip 7. cd into top directory of snapshot/explorer and give yourself privileges to run snapper. (example) hako% cd ORACLESP-BDL09459A2_10.0.1.2_2014-01-21T09-34-27 8. Run snapper in top directory of snapshot/explorer (example) hako% sh -x /snaps/SPARC/tools/snapper . 9. Once you have a initiated CPAS for "Root Cause" and done the above, an email should be sent to "t-series-cpas_us_grp@oracle.com" with the following information: CPAS#, SR# and FRU S/N; a brief summary of the error messages; and location of the snapshot/explorer to alert Engineering.
