Purpose

Provide information regarding VLE JBOD Power message SENSOR-8000-7L

Details

Symptom:

SENSOR-8000-7L -- A sensor indicates that a power supply is not operating properly due to some external condition.

Description:

A JBOD power supply AC input power voltage interruption has occurred.

Display:

The power supply internal circuitry will illuminate the service-required LED indicator
on the affected power supply, but the power supply is not actually at fault.

Resolution:

Experience has shown that these types of messages will show up after an external power failure, or while performing some type of scheduled maintenance with the main power supply or uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

If power does not recover after external power is restored, an SR should be open for resolution.

Field Engineering steps:

Often these errors occur for each JBOD attached to the input power grid, so more than one usually occurs.  If multiple JBODs fail, the problem is almost certainly external.

If the problem is not related to a scheduled customer maintenance action, external power failure, or does not recover after a power outage:

Verify Power Input to the power supply.
The following steps should be taken in order to determine if the problem is internal or external to the VLE.
    a.    Verify that the power supply switch is in the ON position.
    b.    Check that the power cable connection is seated at both ends.
    c.    Verify that the circuit breaker is on for the PDU that powers the power supply.
    d.    Verify that the PDU input power (customer power) is correct.
