Purpose

Fujitsu fault codes:

01A10022, 01A10023

Details

Type

Hardware Fault
   if.fe-asic-stick

Severity

Major

Description

Fault due to a fatal clock distribution error detected by a clock source for stick.

The Master XSCF, and Standby XSCF on M12-2S, are monitoring the health of the clock.

On M12-2S systems, when the clock source is the Master XSCF the system tries to switch the clock source to the Standby XSCF, unless there is only one Building Block in the configuration i.e. there is no Standby XSCF.

Automated Response

For M12-1 or M12-2 systems, or for a single Building block M12-2S system, Solaris may panic due to a stick failure.

When the system is a multiple Building Block M12-2S configuration:

- If the failure is detected on the standby clock, only a log file is created

- If the failure is detected on the master clock, the system will keep running by failing-over the clock source to the standby clock

Impact

For M12-2S systems, the XBU is deconfigured and an XB-way is deconfigured on PPARs which are using this XB chip.

Indicted Hardware

For M12-1 or M12-2 systems, and for a single Building Block M12-2S system, the MBU or CMUL is marked for replacement.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
