Severity

Major

Description

Fault due to a serious (uncorrectable) error detected by a SPARC64 XII CPU chip within one or some of its own strands. The fault is serious enough that the domain is asked to offline the strand(s). The domain gets some sort of uncorrectable error trap due to this serious error.

Automated Response

No immediate action is taken. The uncorrectable error trap (the CPU will probably get a TT=40, or encounter a UE in data, or enter RED state) may cause the domain to panic. If the domain does not panic, then the domain subscribes to this fault and the domain software will attempt to offline the core.  The system administrator should make sure the domain does not continue to use the CPU chip.
action.

Impact

The CPU strands may be are deconfigured the next time the domain reboots.

NOTE: For M12-1 systems, this means the platform becomes unbootable

.

Indicted Hardware

For M12-1 systems the Motherboard is marked for replacement. For M12-2 and M12-2S systems, the related Motherboard (CMUU or CMUL) is marked for replacement.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
