Type

Hardware Fault
   memory.se

Severity

Critical

Description

Fault due to serious error detected at the DIMM. This serious error affects a single memory bank. The domain (either a CPU or an IOC) will get a UE, and the domain may panic.

Automated Response

No immediate action is taken by XSCF. It is expected that the domain will take appropriate action.

Impact

The memory associated is deconfigured (4 DIMMs for M12-1, 8DIMMs for M12-2/2S).

Indicted Hardware

The DIMM is marked for replacement. It is also possible that the DIMM is not seated correctly.

For M12-1 systems, there is a slight chance the MBU is at fault, but this FRU does not appear on the suspect list.

For M12-2/2S systems, there is a slight chance the CMUU or CMUL, where the suspicious DIMM is mounted, is at fault, but this FRU does not appear on the suspect list.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
