New Part Process / Reservation Hold - Effective immediately there are new global parts processes in place. Oracle has centralized specific RoHS FRUs for 2013 and 2016 SL8500/ SL3000/ SL500 tape libraries into Tier 1 locations in ‘Reservation Hold’ status for use in RoHS compliant countries. The availability of these RoHS FRUs is controlled requiring Tape Domain management approval. In most cases a Domain Engineer will be involved when a part is ordered and they will follow the necessary processes to order the correct part level. However, in order to understand the process and what is required should you order a part directly, the following information will provide some clarification and guidance. PurposeThis global guideline is to ensure approvals are obtained, prior to requesting specific RoHS SL8500/ SL3000/ SL500 2013/2016 FRUs, which are placed in a T1 locations and in 'Reservation Hold' status. Please read the attachments and the MOS article regarding these new procedures. This will answer most questions. Email Announcement - Tape RoHS FRUs_Field Comms Jan 2017v2-1.pdf Detailed Process - Process details and Gaining approval for Tape library RoHS FRUs placed in RoHS compliant countries_v3.pdf MOS Knowledge Article - Document 2227264.1 For use of specific RoHS 2013 and 2016 library parts listed below, approval is required.
FSE Responsibilities and impacts – In the US: In all cases, when ordering a part on the above list you must only order the lowest down chain part following standard process. All lowest level parts meet the required RoHS 2006 level. Any higher RoHS level part is on Reservation Hold and will not be released until a management approval is issued as detailed in the attachments. Ordering a 2013 or 2016 RoHS part will likely cause significant delay in obtaining a replacement part and probable management rejection. The only exceptions to the ordering requirements are like-for-like card replacements that have other dependencies, such as a minimum code version or are functionally different. At this time the only parts that meet this exception are the HBT2, PUX2 and HBCR2 cards. The following are the part numbers to order for the cards affected by this communication. Outside the US – When ordering a part on the above list you must always order the lowest down chain part unless the library is identified as a RoHS 2013 or 2016 library. To assist with determination of the required part… The RoHS version is now displayed on the summary page of a SnapShot in SPLAT. Use the following serial number break-in lists for RoHS determination outside the US. If it is determined that a RoHS 2013 or 2016 part is required, you will be required to work with a Domain Engineer (TSC support) to order the part.
