Purpose

Provide additional information for message ID: M12-upset_pcibox.firmware

Fujitsu fault codes:

1100005E, 1100005F

Details

Type

Hardware Fault
   upset_pcibox.firmware

Severity

Major

Description

A hard-to-diagnose failure of the PCI expansion box occurred.

Two types of failures are detected:

- iob-firmware-err: 1100005E Firmware running on IOB has failed;
- linkcard-firmware-err: 1100005F Firmware running on link card has failed.

The failure is detected by software reset, watchdog reset or other software self-check.

This fault may occur either due to a hardware problem or a software problem on a FRU. The firmware may recover by restarting.

Automated Response

The firmware may recover by restarting. Otherwise, XSCF firmware loses communication with the PCI expansion box.

In all cases, the platform administrator should investigate the cause of the failure - whether there was a hardware failure of the XSCFU hardware or a software failure of the XSCFU software.

Impact

Nothing is deconfigured.

Indicted Hardware

The FRU where the firmware is running is specified as faulty.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

In all cases, the platform administrator should run the showstatus and showerrorlogs commands on XSCF to check for faulty hardware.

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
