Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version 6.2 to 6.2 [Release 6.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

To provide access to the Oracle Flash Storage Log Cleanse Utility User's Guide.

Scope

The attached User's Guide provides details on how to obtain and use the scanlog utility.  The primary audience of this utility is any customer that works in a secure environment that needs to locally scan and cleanse FS1-2 logs as instructed by Oracle Global Customer Support.  The scanlog utility is only available for FS1-2 software versions 6.2.11 and higher.  The utility is supported only on Oracle Linux 6 and 7.

NOTE: Do not install the Utility on either the Pilots or Controllers within the FS1-2.  The utility will work on native 64 bit systems and on a Virtual Machine.

Details

FS1-2 software release 6.2.11 and higher are divided into 3 packages and may be downloaded from My Oracle Support (MOS).  For details on obtaining patches, please see Document 1968540.1 FS System: How to Find Software and Firmware Patches for the Oracle FS1-2 System in My Oracle Support. The third (*3of3.zip), includes the scanlog utility that is the subject of this document.

The scanlog utility for 6.2.11 will only work on FS1-2 that is on Small build, scanlog utility for 6.2.12 and higher will work on FS1-2 that is on Small build or Big build.

NOTE: Each release of FS1-2 software will have its own scanlog version. Use only the scanlog version that matches the software version of the FS1-2 that generated the log bundle. For example, if the FS1-2 software version is on release 6.2.11 you must also use the scanlog downloaded from the 6.2.11 software package.

To verify if your FS1-2 is on Small build or Big build, log into the FS1-2 GUI click "System Information", in the main page next to "Controller Firmware Version", if the version ends with .50 the FS1-2 has Big build installed, if it ends in .00 the FS1-2 has Small build installed.

Download the *3of3.zip file and extract it to use the scanlog utility.

When you extract the *3of3.zip file you will see two directories:
big/ small/

Each of these has two subdirectories, one for Oracle Linux 6 and one for Oracle Linux 7
big/OEL-6-x86/ big/OEL-7-x86/
small/OEL-6-x86/ small/OEL-7-x86/

Use the correct scanlog utility based on whether your system is on Small build or Big build.

Using the scanlog utility with the -cleanse option will create a sanitized version of a log bundle with customer sensitive data replaced with generic substitutes.  It will also produce a series of text files to be kept at the customer site that will show the link between the original and sanitized data.

To process the FS1-2 log bundle with the -cleanse option, execute the following command:

# ./scanlog.pl -t <log_bundle_name> -cleanse

Once the scanlog utility completes it will create a tar file that ends with *-CLN.tar, it can be found under the CLEANSED/[log_bundle_name]/ folder location. The *-CLN.tar file can be sent to Oracle Support for analysis.  For more details about scanlog utility using the -cleanse option please refer to the attached PDF document Oracle FS Log Cleanse Utility.
