Description

Command timeout errors are being reported on a device.

Automated Response

A zpool offline may automatically be done on the failing device.
A support file bundle containing debug information will be created.

Impact

A device generating command timeouts may impact the performance of the entire system.

Suggested Action for System Administrators

Replace the failing drive.

Internal Details:

A script checks Command Timeout events from /var/adm/messages every 10 minutes, if there was more than 5 (threshold) Command Timeouts in 15 minute interval, the pluging task performs zpool offline bad drive, and it did shown on zpool history report. The plugin task will send alarm notice after offline, and it did as follows to notify bad drive had been offlined.

Note: If ASR (Automatic Service Request) has been enabled for this system, a Service Request should already be initiated. If ASR is not enabled and have a valid service contract please contact VSM6 Support to assist in enabling ASR.
