This software release supports the following platforms: Oracle ZFS Storage ZS4-4, Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-4, Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-2, Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-BA, Sun ZFS Storage 7420, Sun ZFS Storage 7320, Sun ZFS Storage 7120.

Details

Interoperability for Ethernet Client Connections

Connectivity Options

Direct connect and switch attach connectivity are supported unless noted otherwise.

Supported Ethernet Switches and NICs

All 1Gb/s switches, 10Gb/s switches, and NICs from vendors who follow standard specifications are supported.

Protocol Support for Ethernet Connected Clients

The following operating systems and architectures are supported over NFSv3, NFSv4, iSCSI, SMB 2.1, FTP, SFTP, FTPS, HTTP, and HTTPS. SMB 2.1 does not support these features: branch cache, resilient handles.

Interoperability for Fibre Channel Client Connections

Connectivity Options

Fibre Channel (FC) Point-to-Point (FC-P2P), switch attach (FC-SW), and 4GB and 8GB arbitrated loop (FC-AL) connectivity is supported unless noted otherwise.

Supported FC Switches and HBAs

The following FC switches and HBAs are supported with standard configurations:

  • 4Gb/s, 8Gb/s, and 16Gb/s switches from Brocade
  • 4Gb/s and 8Gb/s switches from Cisco and QLogic
  • HBAs from QLogic and Emulex

Support for FC SAN Boot

Booting from a storage area network (SAN) offers many benefits, leading to cost savings as well as higher levels of protection, ease of management, increased flexibility, and reduced downtime.

To configure the appliance and client server for an FC SAN boot, see document Implementing Fibre Channel SAN Boot with the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance.

Configuring FC Client Multipathing

To configure FC client multipathing, see document Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: How to set up Client Multipathing (Doc ID 1628999.1).

Protocol Support for FC Connected Clients

The following FC configurations are supported unless noted otherwise.
