Solution Type Predictive Self-Healing Sure Solution 2091356.1 : Instructions to Reconfigure Virtual Drives in Bios Configuration(in case of accidental delete) on Oracle Big Data Appliance Hardware X5-2 and Higher
In this Document
Applies to:Big Data Appliance X5-2 Starter Rack - Version All Versions and laterBig Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 3.1.0 and later Linux x86-64 PurposeThis document provides instruction to 'Create Virtual drive' and reconfigure ALL the OS drive/disk's in case the disk configuration is cleared in Bios configuration screen by accident during boot process on Oracle Big Data Appliance(BDA) Hardware - Version X5-2 and higher These steps are internal which might have been followed for accidentally clearing the disk configuration 1) Enter CTRL-R during boot to enter Bios Configuration screen OR Bios screen might have been automatically entered during boot process due to preserved cache issue
ScopeBDA Administrators and ACS DetailsOn BDA there is no RAID on the controller and the controller is just used to do basic JBOD disk configuration, wiping out the configuration does not necessarily mean that data is lost and reimaging is needed. If below steps are performed for all 12 disks one at a time in the correct order (lowest to highest slot) and without selecting any options to wipe/initialize the disk then it should be possible to restore the node.
Here are detailed instructions to ADD ALL drive/disks back to the controller in Bios Configuration screen
Note:- Disks need to be added from lowest to highest slot number . Also only ONE disk needs to be configured at a time in order to restore previous data and partitions.
In below image only disk in slot0 is currently configured
9) Click on 'Ctrl-Alt-Delete' from the ILOM Menu on the top off the screen to reboot the node 10) Once the node is booted into OS mode below commands can be executed to check the disk state mount -l ls -l /dev/disk/by-label
