Details

Compute node telemetry network link failure

Type

Fault

fault.frame.computenode.link.fail

Severity

Major

Description

The frame monitoring module has determined the compute node network link is down.

During the RMS boot process we will normally see link up / link down events during initialization.

When a link goes down, but never comes backup it typically indicates a bad cable.

If a cable is physically detached and re-attached the link will stay down until manually enabled.

Verify the link was not inadvertently disabled while in escalation mode.

Switch on the frame monitoring module (FMM) can also cause a link down problem.

Automated Response

None.

Impact

The frame monitoring module has lost ability to monitor the compute node.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

Verify link is enabled and cable connections between the frame monitoring module (FMM) and the frame Backplane node (FBN).

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
