Purpose

This document helps you identify the type of Infiniband Host Channel Adapters (HCA) installed in a SuperCluster and the firmware versions they're running.

Scope

This document is for SuperCluster administrators and Oracle support personnel. Minimum technical expertise is needed to follow the advice in this document. This advice is limited to identifying only Infiniband HCAs on SuperCluster, it does not extend to other I/O cards, devices or other platforms.

Details

These steps should be performed as the root user and repeated on every domain (LDom) on the SuperCluster.

If the domain is running Solaris 11, then you will be using the command /usr/sbin/fwflash, from the package system/firmware-utilities. This package is delivered as part of the Solaris 11 core operating system.

If the domain is running Solaris 10, then you will be using the command /usr/sbin/firmwareflash, from the package SUNWfirmwareflash. If your Solaris 10 domain is missing this package, it is delivered for Solaris SPARC in MOS patch 18064232.

Run the command:

# fwflash -c IB -l

or

# firmwareflash -c IB -l

These commands will list details for each Infiniband HCA installed in this domain. Note the "Product" and "Firmware revision" for each device and compare to the following table:

1 The latest firmware version certified on SuperCluster is not necessarily the latest firmware version available for the platform. Refer to the document Oracle SuperCluster Supported Software Versions - All Hardware Types (Doc ID 1567979.1) for the latest details on supported firmware versions.
