Applies to:Sun Virtual Library Extension (VLE) - Version 1.5 and laterSun StorageTek T10000A Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later Sun Storage SL3000 Modular Library System - Version Not Applicable and later Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later StorageTek Virtual Storage Manager System 6 (VSM6) - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. PurposeAwareness for the next leap second insertion, scheduled for June 30th, 2015 at 23:59:60 UTC (as per IERS Bulletin C 49). DetailsLeap seconds are a periodic one-second adjustment of Coordinated Universal Time(UTC) in order to keep a system's time of day close to the mean solar time. However, the Earth's rotation speed varies in response to climatic and geological events, and due to this, UTC leap seconds are irregularly spaced and unpredictable. The NTP protocol can be used to sync time with most modern devices, automatically making the leap second adjustment. The following StorageTek tape products support NTP: SL150, Oracle HSM, OKM, STA, MDVOP, VSM6, and VLE. The NTP protocol can be used to sync time with most tape product software, using the Solaris or Linux OS. Reference Solaris Document ID 1019692.1 or Oracle Linux Document ID 1453523.1 for more details.
