Details

 TYPE: Temperature Fault.

           fault.chassis.temp.external.under.critical

Severity: Major

Description

An Ambient Temperature sensor has exceeded the Low  warning threshold.

Automated Response
The platform will immediately shutdown in a non-graceful fashion.

Impact
A System hard system shutdown will occur. The platform will remain shutdown until the fault condition is cleared.  The fault must be manually cleared.

Suggested Action for System Administrator
The administrator should remedy the situation causing the Low ambient air input to the system.  Since ambient air is from outside the platform, conditions such as, air conditioning temperature settings, room cold spots [distribution of AC outlet vents], etc are possible causes.

If the system is connected via the Automated Service Request [ASR] interface, a service request should be automatically generated.  However if necessary, refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
