A new operator's panel is being released for SL8500/SL3000 libraries. Earlier versions of SLC code (prior to 6.51) will run with the new panel. However, there's a potential for getting the "About" window stuck behind the main login display. This results in the blocking of all further input. The corrective action is to reboot the local op panel.

SLC code version 6.51
New Operator Panel

Purpose

The purpose of this KB is to inform the support personnel about a possible issue with using new operator's panel and SLC software version 6.50 or earlier. The KB also describes the process of differentiating the new operator's panel from the older version.

Scope

The intended audience for this KB may include:

Engineering, manufacturing, TSC, Field support, technical publications

Details

SLC 6.50 and earlier will run on the new panel (old SLC, new hardware). However, it will expose the potential for getting the "About" window stuck behind the main login display and blocking all further input. The corrective action is to reboot the local op panel, and this can be done remotely with SLC 6.50.

Engineering's recommendation is that new panels should run SLC 6.51 or higher versions (when available). Engineering recommends against downgrading SLC code below 6.51 on the new panels.

HARDWARE IDENTIFICATION:

The following part numbers help to identify the panels:

SL8500:

Old panel part number: TF-AHP-1121HTT-C1-1010

New panel part number: TF-AHP-1123HTT-C1-1010

SL3000:

Old panel part number: TF-AHP-1121-C2-1010

New panel part number: TF-AHP-1123-C2-1010

The above part numbers will be affixed in the form of a label on the package box and, on the back of the panel itself (see illustration)
