Purpose

Additional information for Message ID: SPT-8001-KH

Details

Type: Temperature Fault

          fault.chassis.temp.external.over.major

Severity: Major

Description
The platform High Temperature sensor has crossed the High Temperature Soft Shutdown limit.

Automated Response
The system will shutdown gracefully.

Impact
The platform will remain shutdown until the fault condition is cleared.  The fault must be manually cleared.

Suggested Action for System Administrator
The administrator should remedy the situation causing the high ambient air input to the system. Since ambient air is from outside the platform, conditions such as, air conditioning, room hot spots, and inlet obstructions are possible causes.

If the system is connected to Automated Service Request [ASR]  a service request should be generated automatically. If a manual request is needed, refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
