Details

 TYPE: Temperature Fault.

           fault.chassis.temp.external.over.critical

Severity: Major

Description

The platform High Ambient Temperature sensor has crossed the High Temperature Hard Shutdown limit. Ambient air is the external inlet air to the system. The platform will remain shutdown until the fault condition is cleared.  The fault must be manually cleared.

Automated Response
The system will shutdown in a non-graceful fashion.

Impact
A System hard system shutdown will occur.

Suggested Action for System Administrator
The administrator should remedy the situation causing the high ambient air input to the system. Since ambient air is from outside the platform, conditions such as, air conditioning, room hot spots, and inlet obstructions are possible causes.

If the system is connected via the Automated Service Request [ASR] interface, a service request should be automatically generated.  However if necessary, refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
