Purpose
The OVN ESXi Product notes for v5.5.2 ESXi host driver specifically states:
Supported OS Levels
The 5.5.2-ESX release of host drivers was tested with and supports the following version of VMware hypervisor:
ESXi 5.5.2 GA with release patch ESXi550-201312001
Scope
Does the above statement mean that OVN v5.2.2 driver for ESXi 5.5 will only work on ESXi 5.5.2 GA with release patch ESXi550-201312001?
Details
The Release note entry is because Oracle QA tested the 5.5.2 Drivers on the latest update of ESX 5.5. There are no release specific changes in the code and the v5.2.2 OVN ESXi 5.5 host driver should work on ESX 5.5 Update 0 and/or Update 1, or any update or individual patch release moving forward. Major releases and minor (updates and individual bug patches) are completely different entities in ESXi.
Oracle QA ran sanity tests and touched most test-cases on ESX 5.5.0 GA (no update) and the v5.2.2 OVN ESXi driver works fine.
The attached KB written for previous versions of OVN (Formerly Xsigo) ESXi driver notes, is still relevant for ESXi 5.5.x.
