Purpose

Provide additional information for message ID: ILOM-8000-6N

Details

ILOM Unable to Boot

Type

Fault
  defect.ilom.boot.preferred-invalid

Severity

Major

Description

Message ID: ILOM-8000-6N indicates that the ILOM fault manager has applied diagnosis
to error reports indicating the preferred ILOM firmware image could not be booted.

The service procesor stores two separate ILOM images.

One of the ILOM images is designated as the preferred image.
If the preferred image is not used due to checksum or boot errors, then the non-preferred image is used.

This fault will be automatically cleared when ILOM is booted using the preferred image.

Automated Response

The server has booted from the ILOM backup image.
The chassis wide service-required LED's will be illuminated.

Impact

The ILOM backup image is likely to be an older and possibly out of date image.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The user must reload the ILOM image.
