Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

 To explain why a 146 GB disk is being used in place of a 73 GB disk in a disk replacement service event.

Scope

 On the platforms listed in the Product Section a 146 GB disk is being used in place of a 73 GB disk

Details

Part Number 540-6600 a 540-6602 or 540-6064 may be sent as a replacement

540-6600  - 73.4GB - 10000 RPM, Disk Assembly with 1 bracket

540-6602 - 146.8GB - 10000 RPM, Disk Assembly with 1 bracket

540-6064  - 146.8GB - 10000 RPM, Disk Assembly with 1 bracket

 

All 3 disks are supported on the products listed.  Mixing sizes of disks is supported on the products listed.  Solaris Volume Manager supports replacing a smaller disk with a larger disk. Please refer to your Volume Manager Software Documentation for the detailed procedures.

Note For Oracle Field Engineers:

Though the 540-6602 and 540-6064 are not listed as a replacement in the Official Substitution List the part will be recognized in the logistics system as being a valid replacement drive on the Products Specified in the Document
