Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive listing of hardware and software application patches available on Exalytics servers. Oracle Exalytics is an engineered system that comprises hardware and software applications that can be patched independently. It is recommended that you patch all components when a new Patchset (PS) patch is released. The specific versions are designed to work together in an optimized manner. By patching all components at the same time, you will maintain your server with the latest bug fixes and product enhancements.
For the purposes of patching, the software components for Oracle Exalytics include:
Core Components:
- Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition
- Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database for Exalytics
- Oracle Exalytics Base Image
- Oracle Exalytics Configuration Utility
Optional Components:
- Oracle Essbase (installed via the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer in a separate home from OBIEE)
- Endeca
- Other software that can be installed on the Exalytics Machine, as detailed in the Oracle Exalytics Certification Matrix.
You may apply interim, or PSU, patches as described in <Document 1682531.1> Are OBIEE Bundle, EPM PSU, TimesTen Patches and Other Interim Patches Certified on Exalytics. Full certification information for versions, or products, not listed above is available in <Document 1505616.2> Information Center: Certification Information For Oracle Exalytics.
Scope
This document is intended for system administrators or application developers on an Exalytics server. Required knowledge is Exalytics software stack, Linux operating system and patching processes.
Details
The tables below indicate which versions are included with the specific Exalytics Patchset (PS). Please note that only the most current Exalytics software updates will be shown on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. As new Exalytics versions are released, older versions are removed. For example, at the time of this writing, Oracle Exalytics Software Media Pack for Linux x86-64 version 1.0.0.6 , Exalytics Patchset 4 (PS4), is now the only version on E-Delivery.
If you still require older versions of the software, you may open a non-technical Service Request (SR) to request the older versions of the software.
Oracle Exalytics Release 2 (2.0.0.1)
Release 2.0.0.1 Notes: Release 2.0.0.0.1 is for Exalytics X2/3/4-4/5-4 and X6-4 Models only. It contains software updates for both virtual and non virtual deployments on Exalytics X series servers.
This software Update is NOT meant for Exalytics T5-8.
you must first update to PS5 image and 2.0.0.0 patch before you can apply the new Release 2.0.0.1 patch. The PS5 image download is available from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud by searching under "Oracle Exalytics (SW-Product) 1.0.0.5.0 for Linux x86-64." Bare metal installations only require the V56223-01.iso, Oracle Exalytics X2-4/ X3-4/X4-4 Base Image 1.0.0.7 for Linux x86-64 download.
When fully installed, Exalytics Release 2.0.0.1, upgrades the Exalytics image to version 2.0.0.1.el6 and upgrades the product stack to:
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) 11.1.1.7.1+ (11.1.1.7.150120)
Oracle TimesTen (TT) 11.2.2.8+
Optional software updates include:

If Oracle Linux 6.6 is used, OBIEE 12c may be installed as an option. OBIEE 12c is only supported and certified on Linux 6 environments and cannot be installed on Linux 5 servers.

Release 2.0.0.0 also includes an option to install Oracle Linux 6.6. This option can only be used when re-imaging the entire server. When a server is re-imaged, all existing software applications and configurations are removed. The new image (.iso file) is installed and then applications need to be re-installed. Please see Section 4.3 Installing Oracle Exalytics Release 2 Base Images (2.0.0.0.el5 or 2.0.0.0.el6) in the Install Guide.
If Oracle Linux 6.6 is used, OBIEE 12c may be installed as an option. OBIEE 12c is only supported and certified on Linux 6 environments and cannot be installed on Linux 5 servers.

It is intended for new installs and can only be used to install a full release (no patches). The EDMU only installs OBIEE and TimesTen. It does not install EPM. The exalytics-domain-management.sh can only be run as the "oracle" user. Exalytics Release 1 Patchset 3 (PS3/1.0.0.3)
PS3 NOTES: The Exalytics server must have PS2 configuration utilities and image updates installed prior to upgrading to PS3. You do not need to apply the individual PS2 product patches (i.e. OBIEE patches, TT patches). You only need the configuration utilities and image software updates to proceed to PS3 installation.
When fully installed, Exalytics PS 3 upgrades the product stack to the versions indicated:

On E-delivery, select Oracle Business Intelligence as Product Pack and Linux x86-64 as Platform, then Oracle Exalytics Software Media Pack for Linux x86-64. Download all of the software links for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g (11.1.1.7.0) for Linux x86 (64-bit). Follow upgrade steps in <Note 1587470.1> -Oracle Exalytics Patchset 3 (PS3) Now Available for Oracle Exalytics.
Patch 11.1.1.7.1 is considered a mandatory patch for any OBIEE 11.1.1.7 install. See <Note 1614076.1> OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.7.140114 Bundle Patch is Available for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Exalytics Document.
