Scope

Audience = Customer

Details

The notes below will help in understanding the flow of how upgrades are processed right from a new incoming request to understanding the pre-requisite for each product and there by scheduling the upgrades post warranty verification software ordering.

Overview:-

  • Customer initiates a new upgrade request SR with Oracle.
  • Concerned Oracle team receives the SR and initiates correspondence with customer.
  • Customer sends the correlated data in upgrade request form sent out by Oracle engineer.
  • Oracle team verifies the warranty / hardware of the product nodes if they can be upgraded.
  • If hardware and warranty are found to be good for upgrade, Customer should download the software via Oracle software download cloud (https://edelivery.oracle.com/).
  • Oracle will provide the software kit shipment to customer site if

a>    Unavailability of FTP server in network to be connected to Eagle STP.

b>    Eagle STP has no E5-IPSM card configured.

  • The schedule (consisting of HC2 & upgrade for each site) is sent across to customer once software is downloaded.
  • Oracle engineer(s) check the connectivity for the scheduled site prior to 24 hours of activity.
  • Oracle engineer(s) perform HC2 & upgrade activities as scheduled and confirm with customer prior to closing each activity the status of system.

Highlights of Upgrade:-

  • All the activities are performed via a console connection. For Eagle MMI connection is required and for EPAP & ECAP minicom is required and for ELAP & LSMS OOBM connection is necessary.
  • The HC2 for Eagle STP is scheduled 24 to 72 hours prior to the upgrade date and for EPAP/ECAP/LSMS/ELAP HC2 is done 5 to 7 days prior to upgrade date.
  • Analysis is done for the logs provided post HC2 via a SR.

GREEN= Go ahead with upgrade

Yellow= Actions mentioned in analysis need to be performed prior to upgrade

RED= Actions mentioned in analysis need to performed mandatory, else will fail the upgrade.

  • Oracle engineer performs the upgrade and closes the activity post confirmation from customer on system status.
  • Spares to be confirmed by customer on site prior to start of HC2 in reply to Oracle engineer’s initial email. Please see the below table for card details :-
