Purpose

The T5-X platforms improve fault reporting to both the ILOM & Solaris.

Details

The improvents to T5-x platform fault reporting has improved in the following ways:

  1. CPU and Memory diagnosis now done by ILOM FMA (FDD) instead of Solaris FMA.
  2. Clearing of a fault, no matter which diagnosis engine (Solaris or ILOM FMA FDD) diagnosed the fault, can be done from either Solaris or ILOM FMA shell.  The fault will be cleared universally in both Solaris and ILOM FMA shell.  This behavior differs from the T4 where some faults must be cleared in both Solaris & in the ILOM FMA shell.
  3. Power and environmental type faults are now seen not only by ILOM “show faulty” and ILOM FMA shell commands, but also by Solaris “fmadm faulty”
  4. IO Errors are still diagnosed by the Solaris FMA.  Some of the more common IO errors are PCIe related.  Unlike the T4 an IO error will be propagated down to the ILOM FMA shell, and it could also be cleared from there and that would clear it from Solaris as well.
  5. Disk diagnosis on a T5 is now propagated to the ILOM FMA FDD.
  6. Errors found during POST will result in an FMA diagnosis.  The ereport will indicate that error was found during POST.
