DIMM faults on power cycle/reboots of the blade falsely |
We are seeing false DIMM faults on power cycle/reboots of blades that show this signature in the fault:
fault.memory.intel.dimm.none
or
fault.memory.intel.dimm.tempsensor-failed
|
Workaround: If these errors happen on the power cycle or reboot then likely they are not real errors. If errors persist then clear the fault and re-seat the blade.
Solution: Update firmware to ILOM 3.0.16.11.g r73607 / BIOS vers. 08.07.03.05 or later

SW 1.0.1 firmware lists the incorrect ilom version |
After downloading and installing SW 1.0.1 from support.oracle.com some will notice that the readme has the incorrect ilom version listed. * ILOM 3.0.9.15.h * BIOS 08.05.01.14
After you apply the ILOM-3_0_9_15_h_r59192_Sun_Netra_X6270M2.pkg.
|
This is available in two MOS Patches for the Netra x6270M2 platform under Netra X6270 M2 SW 1.0.1 (there should only be one, they are the same) - here is what the ILOM version reads : Version 3.0.9.23 r59192. |
DIMM CE errors mapped to empty DIMM locations |
BIOS implicates the wrong DIMM location for CE errors when memory channel is not fully populated. |
Update firmware to ILOM 3.0.16.11 r65962 / BIOS vers. 08.07.01.08 or later
|
DIMM Uncorrectable UE errors while system is sitting idle |
Uncorrectable memory errors are reported while the system is idle. They can appear to come from 1 DIMM, or multiple DIMM's or multiple CPU's at the same time. |
Clear any previous faults manually in ILOM then upgrade firmware to ILOM 3.0.16.11 r65962 / BIOS vers. 08.07.01.08 or later

False UE errors caused by Intel errata on power-cycle |
There is an Intel CPU errata that is causing false UE DIMM failures on initialization of the CPUs during power up.In this case system ran into the issue and caused two DIMMs one on each CPU to have UE errors at exactly the same time. Evidence of the errors is seen here:

This issue is very rare and likely will not repeat on the same system.
