This document outlines the top non-hardware issues our customers encounter on the Sun Blade 8000 Chassis, with the firmware version which fixes that issue or the workaround

SymptomDetailsResolution/Workaround
Losing access to CMM intermittently 

CMM becomes unresponsive on network for 3 minute for ping, ssh and web.

Issue fixed in CMM firmware version SW2.0 / ILOM 2.0.1.1.

CMM event log shows voltage errors.

CMM reports similar error messages in event log

CMM/V_+3V3 : Lower Non-critical going low

Issue fixed in CMM firmware version SW2.0 / ILOM 2.0.1.1.

Unexpected reboots and memory uncorrectable error.

X8420/X8440 AMD Opteron PowerNow feature can cause memory Uncorrectable Errors

Workaround: Disable Power Now feature in BIOS
BIOS -> Advanced -> CPU Configuration -> PowerNow [Disable]

VMware booting issue with SAN attached to blade

Fibre Channel timeouts when booting ESX (locally or from the SAN) or the ESX installer

Update ILOM/BIOS firmware of blade to latest version.
